CRACKLE TECHNIQUE

It is excellent technique to see antique finishing on the object. You can also combine with other decoration and restoration techniques and have unique object. It can use on any kind of wood, clay, ceramic object also to re-decorate the cupboards, wardrobes, tables, coffee tables, doors
Materials Required: Object to paint, acrylic color paints (main color and contrast) , varnish, brushes, sponge brush, sanding paper, undercoat (if your wood object old one or not smooth ), decoupage picture (if you like to combine with decoupage), decoupage glue, crackle medium. 

There are two kinds of crackle technique.

a) Paint crackle : This technique cracks only paints; the crackle can be seen between contrast paints.

Steps of work:

1. .Prepare the object as explained above

2. Paint the object in main color, leave to dry min. 20 minutes.

3. Decoupage the picture on the object surface or draw and paint the pattern

4. Varnish it with acrylic varnish. .Leave to dry 2 hours.

5. Spread the crackle medium 1 on to surface you prefer seems antique

6. When it is dry, (min 2 hour later) take the contrast color on sponge brush

& spread only to the same direction

7. Allow it to dry for 2 hour to crack without moving it.

8. Decorate the object with metallic finger paint.

9. Varnish it two times with acrylic varnish. .Leave to dry 12 hours.

(If it is to be washed or used in the kitchen: you must use synthetic varnish &

Also varnish minimum 3 times. Wait for 12 hours for each varnish steps

b) Varnish crackle:

Steps of work:

1. .Prepare the object as explained above

2. Paint the object in main color, leave to dry min. 20 minutes.

3. Decoupage the picture on the object surface or draw and paint the pattern

4. Varnish it with acrylic varnish. .Leave to dry 2 hours.

5. Then apply the crackle medium. No.1 carefully onto all surface, allow drying.

6. When it is dry, (min 2 hour later) Apply crackle varnish No.2 only to the same

direction once with new and clean brush.

7. Allow it to dry for 2 hour to crack without moving it.

8. When, it gets dry, use the antiquing medium to fill the crackle

9..Wipe it with wet cloth to take of surface color.

10. Decorate the object with metallic finger paint.

11. Leave it to dry for 6 hours.

12. Varnish it two times with acrylic varnish. .Leave to dry for 12 hours.
